Why should I take up running?

Active travel not only lowers your carbon footprint but can be invigorating for the mindbody and soul. 

Running can be part of a daily commute, a trip to the shops or as a leisure time activity.  You can do it as little or as often as you like and with minimal equipment or costs. The freedom this allows is one of its many benefits.

Running Groups

St Andrews Park Run 

A timed, 5km run every Saturday morning at 9.30am at Craigtoun Country Park. Please see their website for further details. 

St Andrews Adventure Running Team

STAART is a group In St Andrews who want to get fit with others. They cater for all abilities from walkers to runners. Training nights are Monday at 6pm.  For more information, please see the Jog Scotland page

University of St Andrews Athletics and Cross Country Club

If you are a student, the University of St Andrews Athletics and Cross-Country Club welcomes all levels of runner, from top athletes to beginners looking for running buddies. Offering three training sessions a week with Scottish Athletics qualified coaches, casual runs and core exercise classes, the Club caters for those who wish to compete at the highest level, as well as those looking for a relaxing run after lectures. Fife Athletics Club

Fife Athletic Club caters for runners and athletes of all ages from nine upwards, and abilities: from the complete beginner, to the recreational runner who just wants to keep fit, to athletes who have represented both club and country at international events.
